Ruth Baumgarte Art Foundation

The Ruth Baumgarte Art Foundation, founded in 2012 by the artist herself as a non-profit organisation, explores, maintains, and manages Ruth Baumgarte’s extensive oeuvre. Next to paintings, watercolours, and drawings, the artist’s work includes a broad portfolio of illustrations.

The Foundation is chaired for life by the artist's son Alexander Baumgarte. Members of the advisory board include Katharina Beisiegel (Director Kirchner Museum Davos), Prof. Dr. Beate Reifenscheid (Director Ludwig Museum Koblenz), Janine Baumgarte (daughter of the artist), Dr. Sabine Fellner (freelance curator, Vienna), Dr. Renée Gadsden (author and lecturer at the University of Applied Arts Vienna), Johan Holten (Director of the Städtische Kunsthalle Mannheim), Jürgen Kögler (Deputy Chairman of the Board) and Angela Stief (Director ALBERTINA Modern, Vienna).

Ingeborg Henze-Ketterer and Dr. Wolfgang Henze (Galerie Henze & Ketterer, Wichtrach/Bern and Nachlassverwaltung Ernst Ludwig Kirchner) are honorary members of the advisory board of the Art Foundation.

In January 2023 the Catalogue Raisonné Ruth Baumgarte was published. In addition, work is being done on the preparation of museum exhibitions.

The Ruth Baumgarte Art Foundation also awards the highly endowed Ruth Baumgarte Art Award to a figurative artist.
